The Trager Approach is the innovative approach to movement education, created and developed over a period of 65 years by Milton Trager, M.D. from California.
Trager Approach (also called Trager Psychosomatic Integration), is a very unique, and luxurious method of revitalizing your body, it offers clients a great package: a very comfortable, luxurious in feeling Table session, and Mentastics: easy movements creating “sweet sensations”, which client can do on their own, as a “homework” or self caring plan.

This is a psychosomatic method, which means that specific easy body movements create a memory in your body and mind, that new memory replaces the previous, traumatic memory of pain or immobility, and that allows your body to move freer and easier.

Work done with a Trager practitioner makes your body feel good, and when your body feels good it works well.
These combined aspects create a program, which can rejuvenate your joints and limbs, prevent aging, and allow you to have more dynamic life, regardless of your body age.

There are two aspects of The Trager Approach; one in which you, the client, are passive and the other in which you are active. The passive aspect is usually referred to as the tablework, and the active aspect is called Mentastics.
Utilizing gentle, non-intrusive, natural movements, The Trager Approach helps release deep-seated physical and mental patterns and facilitates deep relaxation, increased physical mobility, and mental clarity. These patterns may have developed in response to accidents, illnesses, or any kind of physical or emotional trauma, including the stress of everyday life, like for example spending many hours in front of computer .
Usual Trager session  lasts from 60 to 80 minutes. No oils or lotions are used and the client is dressed for their comfort,  in loose sport’s attire, with a minimum of swimwear or briefs, and are additionally draped appropriately.  Practitioners may use soft pillows to increase clients luxurious feeling of comfort.

At the first visit Trager Practitioner conducts simple interview about history of health issues, and later on makes notes about clients progress.  These results are very confidential, and they are available for  clients if they wish to present them to their doctors.
Before and after table session client is asked to make easy and simple moves, called Mentastics.  They are simple moves combined with visual images and help of natural gravity.  Clients can observe and  learn how their body moves, how table session  increased movement and how the feeling of movement becomes pleasurable and easy.  Mentastics are done together with a Trager Practitioner, who inspires client and teaches how to perform these movements later, at home or work.
During the table work session  client is passive and lying on a comfortably padded table. Trager Practitioner moves the client in ways they naturally move, and with a quality of touch and movement such that the recipient experiences the easy feeling of moving  effortlessly and freely.

Trager Practitioner works with compassion and is tuned in their clients needs.  They observe what can be easier, or lighter in the movement, and that kind of feeling enters clients mind and this impression of lightness and ease settles in clients body and mind.
The movements are never forced so that there is no induced pain or discomfort to the client.
This quality of effortless movement is maintained and reinforced by Mentastics. These are simple, active, self induced movements which you, the client, can do on your own, during your daily activities. They have the same intent as the table work in terms of releasing deep-seated patterns.
For many people, Mentastics becomes a part of their life in taking care of themselves, and relieving themselves of stress and tension.

Because many of the effects of The Trager Approach are cumulative, clients most often appreciate and will benefit most from a series of sessions.
